Dr. Bernie Siegal is the author of the book, “Buddy’s Candle”. My great grandfather heard the rabbi say, “I wish I were God.” “Do you want to be God so you can change the bad into the good?” “No, I wouldn’t change anything. I want to be God so I can understand.” Remember our present problems are not new to mankind. Ninety percent of the natives of South America died when the explorers brought infectious diseases to their continent that they had no immunity to and forty per cent of Europeans died during plagues of the past.

Last Wednesday’s horrific beheading of 22 year old Tim McLean on a Greyhound Bus in Manitoba, Canada, defies all logic and leaves one lost for words. A senseless tragedy of unspeakable violence. An innocent young man, by all accounts a very peaceful young man, minding his own business as he rode a bus stabbed to death and beheaded by a stranger.

They come seeking relief from the pain of something that has gone awry in their lives, which could be anything from breaking up with a boyfriend to marriage wounds to a hypercritical boss to some undefined but persistent angst.

It is once again Mother’s Day. A day that for many is one for celebration and for others a day of grief. There is such a duality to Mother’s Day for many. It is a day of love and companionship for many mothers and their children and/or adult-children. It is a day mixed with both [...]

The mystery of understanding seeks to engage us in a journey of living an examined life. A journey of seeking personal enlightenment. Do you find that there are aspects of your life that just seem to defy your understanding in actual and purposefully consciously aware ways? Are you a seeker of more personal enlightenment when it comes to aspects of your relationships, your attitude, your moods, and your over-all choices in your life?
