The Power To Choose

The power to choose is an awesome responsibility. The power to choose is a tremendous source of personal empowerment.

Everything we do, think, and feel involves the power to choose. Many people end up feeling like the victims of their own thoughts and feelings, not to mention life situations and past choices that yielded unexpected consequences in our lives because we lacked awareness.

All-too-often we end up being pushed around (emotionally, psychologically and even spiritually) indiscriminately by life’s events and things that happen outside of our sphere of influence or choice and control. If each and every one of us would exercise the power to choose from a place of mindfulness and radical acceptance of the bigger picture then we could, as individuals, truly begin, within ourselves, to be the change that we hope and want to see in the world.

When we aren’t exercising our power to make conscious and well-thought-out choices we are putting our mental health and/or spiritual and physical health at high risk. Unhappiness and feeling like a victim result. Other  consequences of choices not made include turmoil, chaos, unrest, agitation, depression, and in severe situations turning to alcohol or other substances to numb the pain that results from letting things go and not facing the reality of the power you have to choose your way out of what is disruptive to your leading a healthier life.

Each and every one of us has a sacred responsibility to honour the power that we have to choose. Honour that power you have to choose with a conscious, emotionally mature, mindful, radical accepting and spiritually-wise humble attitude of gratitude that accepts this awesome personal responsibility.

Each and every one of us is responsible for his/her own choices or failure to be consciously aware of what were actually choices made or surrendered.

Make this power of choice a conscious thing in your everyday life. Be aware of the power that you have to make endless choices in your life.

Be aware of the awesome spiritual responsibility that you have to make wise meaningful healthy choices that are the backbone of your own self-care and well-being.

Exercising the power to choose more regularly will give you a much more positive feeling in your daily life. It will empower you.
